Geotechnical Engineering
My work in geotechnical engineering covers the analysis and design of foundations, retaining structures, deep excavations, reinforced soil systems, and ground improvement solutions. My approach begins with understanding ground conditions and their interaction with structures, groundwater, and construction activities. Depending on the project requirements, I use engineering assessment and numerical modeling to evaluate stability, deformation, bearing behavior, soil–structure interaction, and dynamic response. My experience combines analytical and numerical design with practical considerations related to constructability and site conditions. This background also supports my work in underground structures, where geotechnical conditions often form the basis for decisions regarding structural systems, groundwater management, waterproofing, and drainage.
Key Areas

Waterproofing & Drainage
I specialize in the design, assessment, and implementation of waterproofing and drainage systems for underground structures, including basements, foundations, retaining structures, tunnels, underground stations, and structures exposed to groundwater. My approach considers waterproofing as part of an integrated system involving groundwater conditions, concrete structures, joints, membranes, drainage, detailing, and construction quality. My experience includes positive-side waterproofing, watertight concrete concepts, waterstops, fully bonded and compartmentalized membrane systems, drainage systems, injection solutions, and remedial waterproofing. I am particularly interested in identifying the mechanisms behind leakage and system failure and developing solutions that consider both construction requirements and the long-term performance of underground structures.
Key Areas

Geosynthetics
My experience with geosynthetics includes their application in soil reinforcement, separation, stabilization, filtration, drainage, barrier systems, erosion control, and hydraulic engineering. I have worked with geosynthetic systems in reinforced soil walls, transportation infrastructure, underground waterproofing, drainage, and hydraulic applications. My engineering approach focuses on selecting and designing geosynthetic systems according to their required function rather than considering individual products in isolation. Important factors include ground conditions, hydraulic and mechanical requirements, durability, installation conditions, interface behavior, and long-term performance. Geosynthetics are also a major part of my academic activities, including research, technical publications, professional presentations, and experimental studies related to reinforced soil systems and the dynamic behavior of geosynthetic-reinforced soil.
Key Areas

Concrete Engineering & Rehabilitation
My work in concrete engineering focuses primarily on concrete assessment, rehabilitation, watertight concrete, and the integration of concrete structures with waterproofing systems. I have been involved in the investigation and rehabilitation of existing concrete structures as well as the assessment of construction defects such as cracking, honeycombing, leakage, joint deficiencies, and localized deterioration. My approach typically starts with site investigation and condition assessment, followed by identification of the damage mechanism and development of an appropriate repair strategy. Depending on the condition of the structure, solutions may include crack injection, grouting, repair mortars, protective systems, joint rehabilitation, and waterproofing measures. Particular attention is given to material compatibility, detailing, execution quality, and the durability of the repaired system.
